Hi friends! So excited to share the launch of my new blog with you.

‘Magical Places’ Exhibition, 20-23 March 2025

‘Magical Places’ at Tiliqua Tiliqua Gallery in Enmore, NSW, was a collaboration with friend and fellow artist Dominique Smallcombe. We both love exploring the natural world, but through our own unique lenses. I dove into creating these super textured pieces, stitching and beading away, hiding little details for people to discover. Dominique, meanwhile, captured these same realms with expressive, organic strokes, creating sweeping impressions of magical places. We both wanted to capture those unseen places, those feelings you get when you're in nature, and translate them into something abstract and sensory.

I wrote a poem about our show, which I read out at our celebration drinks. I’d like to share it with you.

The Journey Begins

Step inside and take your time,

Each piece a whisper, a silent rhyme.

Of landscapes deep and oceans wide,

Of things unseen, yet felt inside.

Textures rise and colours bloom,

In every corner of this room.

With needle, thread, and painter’s hand,

We’ve shaped a soft and dreamlike land.

From stitched detail to sweeping hue,

Each work reflects a world that’s new.

Not copied from the world we know,

But places where imaginations grow.

A flicker here, a shimmer there,

A thread of gold, a breath of air.

These works were born fro heart and mind,

Where spirit leads and forms unwind.

Dominique paints with flowing grace,

Unveiling some enchanted place.

While I, with thread and careful bead,

Let textures speak and colours lead.

We journeyed far without a map,

Through light and dark, through calm and gap.

And now we share with you tonight

These glimpses caught in thread and light.

So wander slow, take in the skies,

Let wonder settle in your eyes.

May every work you pause to see

Reveal a bit of mystery.
